
The pad itself rotates around the pivot point which creates a solid base for hitting those directional pads. The PS d-pad design has a circular nub that acts as a pivot. The D-Pad on the X1 is based on a circular spring system, whereas the 360 was based simply on cell-membrane padding with no center-axis support.
